Lower Transaction Fees for Charities, CASCs & Non-profit Orgs

From January 2022, UK clubs who are registered as charities/non-profit organisations or Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs), will receive a lower transaction fee for payments collected online using GoCardless.

That's continual savings that your club can benefit from by selling memberships, collecting online donations, teamwear or events.

If you're a charity, non-profit organisation or CASC, read on to see what you need to do to take advantage of the new lower fees.


Pricing changes for charities/non-profit organisations

The table below shows the transaction fees for eligible clubs using GoCardless as a payment provider, as of January 1st 2022.

For charities/non-profits/CASCs not using GoCardless to collect payments

In order to benefit from the lower transaction fees, your club must do the following:

  • Register to use GoCardless as a payment provider (see Helpcentre article)
  • When asked to choose a “Business Type” choose “Charity/non-profit”

For charities/non-profits/CASCs already using GoCardless

In order to benefit from the lower transaction fees, your club must do the following:

  • Be registered with GoCardless with the business type “Charity/non-profit”
    • To check you are registered with the correct business type - please login to your GoCardless account > go to Settings > Edit Account Details
  • Please contact help@gocardless.com if you need some assistance updating your existing GoCardless account.
